Default New member of the family finally arrived!

Picked her up yesterday afternoon and she is unbelievable! Touring, six speed manual roadster in superblack with the charcoal interior . I have been a member of this sight for many months now, but this is my first post, because up to now all I would have had to say would be pure envy of all of you with those amazing coupes.

I just wanted to share my experience with you so "buyer beware". I put a deposit on a roadster in early february with Baron Nissan in Glen Cove Long Island (even though I live in Connecticut now). I did it before even seeing the car, because I loved the coupe and would ensure and early summer delivery and was told absolutely that I would get MSRP (handshake and their word with my sister present, no exact amount as pricing was not out yet). I spoke to these guys on the phone at least once a week to get updates over the last 6 months, and they acted like nice guys. 3 days ago, they tell me that the car is in transit and they have a VIN number (like waving candy in front of a baby). Totally excited, I call them the following day to find out the exact amount in order to figure out the financing, and they tell me that they want over 44K with tax, around 4k markup. I was furious! At first they try and tell me that Nissan and not the dealership is making them increase the price (total BS), and then they say "hey we could sell this next door for over 5k over MSRP tommorrow"(the scary part is I know they can). Yada yada.

Pissed off, I call 20 different dealers in the NY, CT area, and find that most people want around 2-3k over msrp, and they don't have a car coming in for several weeks to a couple of months (when summers over). My 20th call lands me back in LI, where they had just received my baby on there show room floor. I did have to pay over MSRP, but it was worth not giving Baron Nissan a penny of my money after what they tried to pull.

Happy ending --IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! Believe me, I am not trying to rub it in to all of you waiting for the roadster because very soon you'll know what I mean. The acceleration is unbelievable, the handling is phenomenal and pictures just do not do it justice. It is HOT HOT HOT in person. I was stopped at least 6 times on the drive back home by people loving the car. I will try and get some pictures with the digitial camera when the sun comes up this am and post them later. Just had to sneak down to the garage in the wee hours of the morning, while everyone sleeps, to check on her. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you will soon enough!

Peace, Bulldog

I hate this waiting game. It's not that I am impatient to get the vehicle as much as I want the transaction to be over with. I am paying MSRP and got a final price from my dealer and I have arranged financing already. I am ready to

"throw the man a 20, jump in and fire that mother up"
(paraphrasing Charlie Daniels Band "Uneasy Rider")

I hope they don't decide to try to rip me off. Keep your fingers crossed.

Everyone is saying that the roadster is stunning when you finally get to see it in realtime, and I (expletive deleted) can't wait.

Default Details Please - And Dealer is Lying

The Dealer told you a LIE - Nissan is telling the dealers under no circumstances sell the car for more than MSRP. Nissan has set up classes and counciling to the dealership warning them of the dangers of ADM. - You should report Baron to Nissan.

Please give details on the Baby.

Wheels 17 or 18 - Nissanusa.com says both with Touring manuel.

Air Bag Kill Swith ? - nissanusa.com says yes.

My baby is still in Japan dealership called on Monday (I had to tell the dealership how to make the phone call)

I have agreed to MSRP plus 900 ADM.

Hey Bulldog...
How noisy is the car because of it being a roadster. I am ordering a coupe but the only reason for this is that I know the roadster wont be as ergonomic or quite as the coupe.

Please fill in with some info regarding this matter.

Congratulations on your new baby.

According to all the magazines (Road&Track, Etc.....) the roadster is very quite for a convirtible, perhaps the quitest in its class. You can hear the roar of the engine a little more - But hey thats all good.

Bulldog,

Congrad on your new Roadster. I'm still waiting for my SilverStone Touring. I think most dealers are not selling their inventory to any of the people that have deposits for MSRP. They are trying to Sell are trying to get as much as they can for the first shippments. I think I will have to wait until Sept before they will sell me the one I'd ordered for MSRP. I know the cars are available because another dealer has my exact car but asking $4k over MSRP. Please let us know about the 18" wheel and Tire monitor. The dealer is charging me $1,200 for the 18" wheel with the Touring 6MT option.

Again, Congrad!!!! Please post pics.

Talking Alright Bulldog

Look just because you have the almighty car and we are still waiting, doesn't mean you can be selfish and just drive it all day long. Take some pictures and give us some specs. - Don't forget us lonely people.

Congrats on the new car. Sorry to hear of your problems with the deale. Some peolpe have no class whatsoever. Take as many pics as you can and post them as soo0n as possible. No detail is insignificant. I'm waiting for my dealer to call as I write this. He hopes to have some good news. Nissan added two weeks to the original delivery date. That makes it late August. I really need the car SOONER!!!!!!

Hey all,

Thanks for all the nice comments. As you could probably already know, I neglected the forum for a day, as I was out playing in the new auto. Geez, the number of people that approach you in this car, you'd think I was a celebrity. As for the tire issue, I had originally ordered the 18inch tires at the original nissan dealer, however, this one came with the 17 inch ones. I personally don't see a great difference in the looks (18 inch ones on the coupe next to my roadster when I picked it up) however, possible there are some performance differences that I don't know about.

As for the exact tire pressure, I'll take a look to see what I can find.

I'm sorry about the pictures guys, I was selfish yesterday and tooled all over town.

I'm going to charge my digital cams batteries today, and when I get back from work, I'll see what I can do. Also, it is pouring rain today, so they might just be garage pics. Hope you don't mind

Thanks again, Bulldog

Forgot to comment on the noise etc.

I am amazed at how quiet this convertible is, even at fast speeds. I had a conversation at normal volume, even on the highway. There is only a little wind in your hair at high speeds. The quote from one of the articles that I have read was really accurate... "it makes you part of the environment, instead of insulating you from it..."

You definitely can hear the growl of the engine, but this is my first sports car, and first convertible and I have nothing to compare it to. I love that sound. It makes you feel good about the power in this car, and the neighbors know when move to the curb because I'm coming baby.

report back soon, bulldog

Felt guilty about yesterday - decided to attach a few photos before work. Unfortunately, garage shots only. It is pouring rain here and I don't want to get her feet wet yet! Picture just don't do it justice - this car is sooo hot in person! Well worth the wait!

p.s. I looked under the center console and couldn't find anything about tire pressure. I will look for more info after work.
