So what happened? What did you try regading the harness connection to the to actuator?

I still think your answer is in the service manual. To help, I found the page you need. See page SE-19. The Top operation is interlocked with the passenger seat. You need to bypass this so the top control units gets the signal to open.

Print out this section and take the Z by a custom shop. Tell them what's happening and ask if they can wire it so the top can get the signal.

f course not. but i can tell you that for $70 you can make two extremely strong offset seat brackets for instead of paying $300 for bride offset seat brackets.

I hav a guy who knows his ****.

hes gonna check it out and we'll go from there. I'll let you know what does and or does not work.

Theres got to be a way to electronically fake it... maybe its just a simple usage of voltage or lack of that signals this. Have a multimeter and someone who is good with electronics?

I have access to such items and people. But not all at once it seems.

My top was recently cut open and it needs to be replaced now so I have to figure this out in a huge ****ing hurry.

Talk to Sharif at Forged. I think they did most of the work on Bambam's car.

I have no idea who BAMBAM is but I talked to him and he didn't even know such an issue existed. Any other suggestions?

Did you ask the shop about this? There are no easy solutions without completing the circuit back to the computer. You might want to look for a wrecked Z and gut the wiring harness and such out of the pass seat if you're concerned about modifying your original. In short, the system has to think the seat is there.

What is the issue? I do not remember talking with you, but I am guessing your problem is that after replacing the seats your top no longer functions?

We had a similar problem when I put my Cobra's in. If that is what you are talking about Noah from GT-Spec figured the problem out on my car. It's just a bit of wiring and a capacitor if I recall correctly. Basicly you need to fake the signal to the ECU that the passenger seat is in the forward position so it knows it is safe to move the top.

LOL, yea Noah's car is a coupe. He used to work at AAM where I had some of my initial work done on my Roadster (until I got screwed and took my work elsewhere). Anyway, he now works at GTSPEC and yes his account here is Noahzburnt.

I did a search and here is what I could find for you.
https://my350z.com/forum/2126987-post4.html (the link no longer has the wiring diagram)

https://my350z.com/forum/350z-roadst...-roadster.html

This next link has a diagram and even includes a link to the service manual.

https://my350z.com/forum/350z-roadst...nctioning.html

You will also want one of these to get rid of the annoying airbag light.
https://my350z.com/forum/body-interi...ack-stock.html

That should pretty much point you in the right direction for fixing the problem.
Hope that helps.

I would love to, but honestly while I have really enjoyed modding my car and building something unique to my personality, I have never had the time or skills to do the work myself. I usually put my trust in some of the best 350Z shops around (sometimes unjustly).

In this case I had the seats shipped to the shop and they installed them, only to find out about the switch after the top would not budge. I was lucky that Noah is a hardcore enthusiast and was also an electronics guru in a prior life. So after futzing about with it for a couple of hours and making some calls to his friends he was able to figure it out and build a closed loop circuit with some wires and a fuse/ capacitor or something like that.

No problem, sorry I did not see this earlier. I don't spend much time on here anymore except to search on my username, to see if anyone is asking questions or talking about my roadster.

Good luck, I think with a little bit of electrical knowledge, you should be able to get this sorted quickly. For someone who knows what they are doing, it is like a 10 - 15 minute wiring job tops, then just put the wiring under the passenger seat carpet.
Good luck and take care.
