Yeah the CVT really kicks the fun factor down IMO. It delays shifting forever unless you are at WOT. Even then if feels like you have to back off just a tad at redline for it to actually shift. It's really a strange trans...
I had an 04 SER SpecV and those things were fun as hell to drive But im sure they didn't lend u an SER lol
Those had more power, less weight, and no CVT trans. I could imagine they were much more fun to drive. The new generation SER really isn't anything special from everything I've read. Unfortunately its moved onto the role of everyday people mover.
I still haven't tried the CVT, but CR praises it as THE new concept for ATs. I guess it'll take some getting used to. The BIG question mark is just how durable are they (???).
Hard to say as they are so new...we haven't had any problems thus far with the CVT in the Sentra. I just don't really like the feel of the CVT, but then again I'm performance oriented and the CVT is really not geared towards our type of enthusiast, or really any type of "enthusiast" for that matter.
The way it hangs onto rev's just really makes you .
CVT's really aren't that bad. I've got a '09 Murano - and it is deceptively quick (no, not as quick as the 350). But the lack of shifting really removes the sense of gaining speed....that and the fact that the exhaust is basically silent.
