Anyone get their convertible top motor serviced yet?

Question Anyone get their convertible top motor serviced yet?

If you did, what was your:

Year of car
Mileage


How much was it?
Did you do it at the dealer or at a local shop? Does it get serviced when you do the full service package?


Also, does anyone have the blueprints to the covertible top motors?

I just got the service guide (looking for it to answer this & many other questions & it seems our soft top has no old school brake fluid filled motor to service. Pure electric. So I guess the service would have something to do with:

grease 5th bow & necessary parts
service switches
service actuators
????

I'm phoning the dealership tomorrow. I'll post what I find out.

I just had a long discussion about top maintenance with one of the best Nissan mechanics at the dealer near me, since he just fixed my 5th bow problem that has also been given many other Z roadster owners top opening problems. He said that there is no lubricating of the top mechanisms accept the 5th bow latch which is located under a plastic cover under the bottom of the 5th bow. He was surprised about that fact but Nissan recommends no other lubrication.

So it is in the dealerships Full Service Package. They grease everything. It's weird that our tops don't need more servicing, but it's also a good thing. Im not complaining!

They can't sell more motors if they are greasing them.

I believe someone had posted up his DIY on servicing the 5th bow motor. I recommend doing it.

Hello there,
I hope your 2004 Roadster, wasn't repaired, at any of the two Nissan Dealerships, who gave me an estimate $1700-$1800plus to resolve my problem.
I was told by two different Nissan dealership service shops, yes the problem with the 5th bow, would be solved, with the replacement of the two (Left & Right) side motors. These motors were getting extremely hot, when trying to operate the convertible top. These 2 motors cost $600 plus each. And it's recomended, both motors be changed out.
$1700-$1800plus Wow!!
Well, after researching the information, of the same problem, our fellow MY350z.com message board owners, were having. It cost me, $900 and some change.
I was in St. Louis, MO when I had the repairs performed. In fact, I didn't need those 2 motors. I purchased the 5th Bow motor assembly from a Nissan parts dept. (it comes with the motor attached, to the cable assembly, and instructions on how to dismantle and assemble, this new hardware). I paid, a repair shop (who subcontracts outside work) to install the motor assembly.
Works like, there has never been a problem at all, with the roadster.
$900 and some change, compared to $1800plus!!!
