the mechanism is not aligned properly causing it to slip... the top would have issues going up or down... i found the issue by just taking a look at all parts while the top was moving...
the teeth are not aligned, when u go up and down it gets aligned...

I aligned it and placed a washer and that was it...

I have two rips on the top... right by the rear window, and one right above that one. They get bigger and bigger so it blows. I can't leave the car out in the rain otherwise I wake up the next morning and my seat is wet. Good thing I made room in the garage and it sits in there now.

Next... The top gets stuck while the top is going down. It will get stuck right when it's 75% down then all of a sudden it feels like something jammed. I have to hit the close button and make it go back up a few inchs then hit the open button for it to go down completely down. I might be the only one with this specific problem but it's annoying having a convertible but you actually have to work at it to get it down or worst worry about it ripping some more.

So I'm looking into that idea of the removable hard top
i definitely have that same problem

Default No problems here

Use it several times a day @9-10 months a year. When the temp is @55 degrees or lower, it does have an issue with going all the way down. No issues at all @>60.

I got a '04 and the top has NEVER given me any problems. When I wash the car I just wipe the top down with the same soap. Like stated earlier, don't use pressure wash. You'll be fine.

you need to have someone else open and close the top.. then look at the moving parts inside the place holder of the top.. uncover it to see the moving parts on each side... sometimes the theet do not align properly causing it to slip...

I think I'm the one who originally identified the passenger side top seam separation problem on this forum years ago, and posted the pics that have been used by others since.

I had the top replaced under warranty, but was disappointed that it was the same factory fabric. Since then, there have been no problems, but my baby sits in a garage when not on the road. I have never had any problems with the open/close mechanisms, weather sealing, alignment, or electricals.

No problem with the top on my 06 - though it did seem temperamental one time at the end of winter - it was about 55 outside but probably only 45 in the garage - and it opened like an ol lady trying to get up off the couch... I stopped operations and pushed UP.. and after backing from the garage and letting it sit in the sun for 20 mins - it operated fine... So be aware that cold temps can adversely affect operation - not to mention the vinyl top is more brittle when cold - (and likely the cause of the above mentioned issue) causing it to fold and stow while cold may flex the vinyl too much and cause the material to crack vice fold... Let 60 degrees be the rule of thumb for operation.

I have an 07 roadster. So far no problems. Top opens/closes on an average of about 10 times per week, and car is garaged.
