Default Any Preference on Brake Fluid??

Hey guy's, I wanted to ask if you have a preference on what type of break fluid to use? I have a can of Preston DOT3 sitting on the shelf for another car. Wasn't sure if I can use the same stuff in my Z.

Thanks.

If the can has been opened and has been there longer than 3 months dispose of it - it has already absorbed water and can degrade your braking system.

As far as brake fluid type - as long as you arent racing the car where you run the chance of boiling the fluid, any fresh DOT3 fluid (read: new unopened can) is good for a daily driver. Whatever your preference happens to be should be fine.

That being said, I used Motul brake fluid the last time I flushed my brakes.

Ok, I'm not sure whats in it though. I will buy fresh stuff, not sure about mixing matching; if it's DOT 3 in it and add DOT 4 though. My level is half full and wanted to top it off.

Just making sure....

NO - do not mix DOT3 and DOT4 fluids - they are NOT compatible. If you want to switch to synthetic (DOT4) fluid, you must flush out the DOT3 fluid first.

Im finally getting around to my Brembo conversion and I'm going with ATE SUPERBLUE and when I have to flush it again Im going to use ATE TYP 200. Both are the same thing just a different color so when you bleed the system, you know when all the old fluid is out!
