Default planning to buy Z within 2 weeks...

hello guys,
i am a long time honda fan and now i am changing to nissan!!
anyways, i am in a market for 350z vert and i have 3 choices from different dealers. They are 04 white touring with 44K, 05 gray touring with 28k, and 06 black with 29K. i am not leaning towards 06 at this point but it depends on reliability. I tried searching for typical problems for each year, and i got different anwers. so can anybody give me a clue as to what are some typical mechanical problems are in those years? thank you.

My '05 has been great - but the top had to be replaced (under warranty) a couple of years ago for seam separation.
Check the top carefully before you buy. Get in the car with the top closed on a sunny day and look for pinholes.
I think the ZR tops have been the most "typical" problem - across all years.
No problems on mine after it was replaced that one time.

keep looking.... you will find a better deal. its not a BAAAAd price but not the best either, it really just depends on what it has..... Navi... what trim ect...... Remember when the new 370 Roadsters hit dealers prices will drop through the floor on the 350Z roadsters. It happened to my coupe when the 370z hit. I had 5k in equity, now I am about 3k upside down.

Just wait another 2 or 3 months and you will get a much better price and if you want to mod the engine at all dont get anything but an 07 or 08, with bolton's you can get 300whp. That would be impossible to do with a VQ35DE motor that are in the 03-05. The 06 is kind of an inbetween I think they are a little better but I think they are still the DE.

Patience is a virtue I want a roadster really bad but Im not going to lose my *** in another car... I have always put big downpayment so I had equity. And you need to go test drive an 05 and a 07 even if its a coupe, you will be very suprised at the difference in power.

ya, for those mileages and years 19000 even is about the max i would pay......and i would have to like something about the car..........spotless, after market wheels or something on it,..... something...

So i would say keep looking unless you find what your looking for....and happy...

Thanks for the help. I am not particulary looking for power. i will probably do some work on it, but nothing crazy. i am more worried about the reliability issues such as tire feathering and any other mechanical problems. any tranny issues or electrical issues with 04 or 05 model?

I'm a new Z owner myself. Just got an '06 Black roadster with 28K miles for 20K. Came with Bose system, brembos, and leather(ette) seats. There was one scratch on the exterior. So there are definitely some good deals out there.

Open up the range on where you are willing to buy. Personally, I wanted a red ZR in Touring with NAV. I ended up working with a dealer in Orlando who sent me lots of pictures. Run a carfax, do your deal over the phone and line up the financing (if needed) through your bank. Then if everything is a green light, book a cheap roundtrip ticket to see the car. If the car is good, then drive it home. If not, fly home.

I wanted it to be a vacation for me as well. It was nice to drive my "new" car 1100 miles to get home.
