There isn't a lot to work with...I used a wicked cas enclosure with a JL 10 in the stock sub location, and it sounds good. Does not compare to the setup I had in my expedition but the expy wasn't as fin either... You can run another 10 in the glove box side too.
Search for wicked cas to find the details.

I have tried some different subs and amps in the ZR. Honestly the best sound I have found was from putting the Sub in the trunk. Really puts out some bass that my brother said shook some stuff in his house when I pulled up lol. This is just from one 10" JL
10w1v2. I have a power series Rockford that could probably power 4 of these subs.
The trunk def. needs some dynamat because it is a little noisy. From the cabin and even with the top down I don't hear anything. But from the outside it could be a little annoying for other drivers.

You will not make your Z bounce like an Escalade. Buy another car if the sound system is THAT crucial. The Bose is more than adequate...... why do you want to annoy other drivers anyways? I had 2 S12L7s powered by 2 Alpine 1000w mono amps and sold them both after i grew out of the "im 17" phase trying to attract attention to me. You dont need to blow out your ear drums to have music that sounds good. Just replace the stock sub with a 10" JL and replace the box in the glovebox and call it a day.

I have two 12' Pioneer Champion series subs in my trunk with a custom box build. It sounds pretty great, and the stock trunk light illuminates the setup perfectly. The only problem is that I had to remove the spare tire, but trunk space-wise I've lost no space. I have these vertical separators back there so I can throw clothes or whatever in my trunk and not have them slide around onto the subs. It's a great setup... the whole thing cost me around 900 bucks.

The bose is more than adequate.
1. You picked the wrong car to install a system.
2. Every car I have put a system in has seriously f'd up the car (vibrations, loosening panels, etc)
3. Its not going to sound great b/c there is nothing for the base to bounce off of.
Don't do it.

I can't remember which thread I read it in, but apparently the area behind the drivers seat is not sealed, and simply removing the stock Bose sub and replacing it with an aftermarket sub does not produce good results. This is why the need for a custom box.
Has anyone else heard of this? If it is true, why does my Bose sub sound ok?
