I have the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta...they came on my roadster which I bought used. As a former 'semi'-pro cyclist, Vredestein is a BIG name in tires and known for their R&D, manufacturing, and performance. I was a little skeptical about their auto tires, but not after using these for over 5k. Great Tires at a great price, just a little tough to find.

+1.

Other than the R compound tires for track use, our local club fast guys swear by the Dunlop Star spec for street and track. They chew thru more tires than "normal" drivers, and have a better chance to compare more samples. Just ordered mine.

keep in mind that tire manufactories come up with new products all the time. Always check the latest info before you buy. Tire stores are not necessary the best source either. Some just want to sell you what they have. And most of their info comes from the factory rep, not real world applications like the club guys.

I'm nearing the end of my tires and i wanted to get everyone's insight on good affordable tires (I'm on bit of a budget). When i got my car it had city racing and sailun atrezzo tires, both were about $90. I'm looking for tires that have good grip and the occasional speeding. I've thought about the handkook ventus v12 (this is my tire size 255/35 19) does anyone have any suggestion?

i had the bfg sport comp 2's put on my z before i sold it... really liked them, and even though they were the same sizes as the v12's, they were noticeably wider

I've never even heard of those. Also, I've never heard of tires that have the occasional speeding.

Don't cheap out on tires. They're one of the most important parts of your car, regardless if it's a performance car or not.

Next set of tires I buy will likely be MPSS.

Occasional speeding means when the tire loses traction and spins right there with the rest of the car.

But yes, I second bboy's comment about the importance of tires and take it one step further and say they are THE most important aspect of handling and braking. (Not to mention "feel" of the car.)

Suspension is tuned around tires. Brakes - no matter whether stock or a set of 8-piston/15 inchers - don't mean a thing without tires to do the actual stopping. Ride, good or bad, is determined by having the right (or wrong) tires. So yes, buy the best you can buy for that occasional speeding.

At the very least, make sure that whatever you get is at least (or better) than OEM *requirements*.... speed rating, load rating, etc.

As far as the spectrum of tires, well, you don't HAVE to pay Michelin prices for decent tires. I run the gamut from $125 Sumitomo HTRZ-IIIs and Kumho PS91 Max Perfs to $200+ Michelin PSS and for my purposes, they all do respectable jobs - for the intended usage - which is keeping me on the road and allowing me to push them at an "occasionally speedy" pace.

After shopping around for tires the past week, MPSS are really not that bad of a price. Somewhere around $800-850 for 275/35/18 (before shipping).

So, did you have to do anything to fit that size on the rear? I wouldn't mind a slightly wider tire in the back on my '07.

Rolled fenders and a 5mm spacer (for my 18x10 +38 RPF1s).

Currently running 265/35. I do have enough space to fit up to 295s. If I change to a different offset wheel and a custom set of rear trailing arms I can squeeze in up to like a 315.

Also, I drive an Evo IX so all of this is pretty irrelevant to you lol.

Was reading bboy's comment and goin' "HUNNNNNNNNHHHHH????

Until the last line.

OP, 275/35 (wheel diameter irrelevant for this discussion) is an easy fit. You will need at least 9" wheels to stay within the recommended tire width factor and up to about 11" to keep from having to stretch too much.

Offset is the biggest factor to consider. With a lower width (9") wheel, you can run around +20mm offset before you have to roll the fenders. Wider, like 9.5+, stay over 20mm to avoid rolling.

If you don't have an issue with rolling your fenders, then the sky's the limit. (Figuratively) Rolled fenders, you can run 275 to 295 widths without any problems with offset of +15 on up.

Bottom line: the most popular fitment (for aggressive look and flush fit with no real clearance issues if rolled) 9.5 Front +15 (to about +22mm) and 10.5 Rear same offsets.

Visual...

285/35-19 on 10.5 +22

275/40-18 on 9.5 +15

275/35-19 on 10.5 +14

All look about the same.... offset is everything.

Default Vvt

I've recently been having problems with my car shutting off similar to when the camshaft sensors goes bad. Engine dies, power steering goes. I went to AutoZone to get it checked out and they told me it was the Vvt(bank 2). My sister's bf ordered me some new ones but wheb they came in and after installing them we noticed they had the number 6 on them while the ones on my car had 4. So we decided to use the new solenoids with the old casings. For the rest of the day I had no problems till the next morning it happend again and keeps occurring pretty much all day. When I let off the gas at 3-5000rpm (different speed limits where I drive) the idle would drop to about 700rpm. I went to AutoZone and they told me it was the Vvt (bank 2) again. Has anyone ever experienced this problem before and know what I can do

Been on a new set of BFG Sport Comp 2 A/S (stock sizes) for about a month or so. Very happy with them.

[QUOTE=Gs_350z;10930357]Been on a new set of BFG Sport Comp 2 A/S (stock sizes) for about a month or so. Very happy with them.[/QUOTE

The BFG Comp 2 A/S is the first all-season tire I've ever run on the Z. But running max performance summer tires in Colorado limits which days you can get the car out of the garage and I'm finding the Comp 2's rubber compound really fits the extreme of weather we get in my home state. It also has good breakaway characteristics that allows me to find the limits gradually.

The Comp 2 A/S use a pretty hard compound, so lap records will have to wait. But I've got BFG G-Force R1-S r-compounds waiting for that...
