Default what would you do? Top related

My top has like 4 holes in it now so this is the summer i do something about it.

Here are my 2 choices.

Buy http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSA...Q5fAccessories
top and pay a local 350 to install it but idk how long my motors will last last summer it took me 2-3 times to get the top down i'd have to push down then itd get stuck push up then down then up then down to make it fully go in.

or i can buy a smoothline one for 2k and just leave old top down.

This would be the 3nd top this car has had since 04

opinions what should or would you do?

How much is it for a new motor? I'd consider replacing the old mechanism and then having a new top installed. That's actually what I'm doing this coming spring on my 06 roadster.

I don't think that smoothlines top is complete. There's been a thread on here about it for awhile which I'm sure you've already read.

Good luck!

You're right. I just checked their website and confirmed what you said about the top being ready late march. I personally don't like the look of the smoothline top but to each their own.

Does your top move at all? Or does it go part of the way down and then stop? You may just need to replace those elastic bands which can be easily done when the top itself is replaced.

Hopefully someone else with some more know-how than me will chime in.

I'm going to let you decide this on your own, but that is an expensive ebay TOP. Haartz tops run about $400.

I want a smoothline top. Will I get one? IDK yet. I'm going to look at the numbers. My canvas top is still in decent condition, its the motors that are F***d. I'll look at the numbers this weekend, while im sober, and then vote

listen it's shady but if you have full coverage and haven't filed many complaints get a accident report and say someone knifed it, now that's what you pay insurance 4. then you pay .00

Since I park in a garage and my Roadster is only driven on very nice days I leave the top down always and put it up late in the fall. I want the hardtop for the fall and will get one of those emergency covers to keep in the trunk (the ones that drape over the top and keep the interior dry while the car is parked). If the car were my only ride I would just get the hardtop.

Why the hardtop? Just for looks? I don't think it adds any rigidity or structural support.
