I had this problem and if I recall, it was one of the elastic straps interfering with things... Don't quote me though.

It lost its elasticity over time and sagged and caught something or was caught in something. Don't remember which

I dont think it has anything to do with that. Its how often you put your top down and how long it stays down for. Creases and wear spots form and thats marginally avoidable with chemical, topical treatment...
