Default What color should I paint my car?

My car is in the body shop at the moment. I have the option to change the whole color. My original color was Chrome Silver. If I change the color I want to do something other than a common color.

Its an 04 roadster and its getting a NISMO V2 bodykit installed and the JP aero rear diffuser. I also have gloss black NISMO LMGT4 wheels.

I kind of want to keep it in the silver family though, maybe like a gunmetal or a saten silver/grey. Im also interested in the 40th anniversary edition 370Z color how its a dark grey but in the sun light it has a hint of purple/pearl to it. BUT I dont know how that will look with the black rag top... any input?

I am even curious to see how chrome silver would look with a slight hint of pearl to it. N I mean slight. I dont want to go too dark either bc I do a lot of automotive photography and dark colors are a pain in the *** to work with. as are reds... so I deff. want to stay in the silver family. Post up some nice silvers (or other custom colors) for reference please. Thank you

I'm going to paint mine lime green metallic with a black roof. Google images of that and you'll fall in love.

There are all sorts of ways to alter silver. Add violet or green or crimson. Use your imagination.

Of all the silver colors available....IMHO Audi has the best selection.
I would check out an Audi dealership's color code catalog.

Although I would love a bright orange or red, if you're sticking with grey IMO I'd say go Dark Grey. It would look great with the black top and rims. Going to subscribe, keep us updated Anthony!

Thumbs up

Whichever one you choose, I suggest you pick a paint that can be purchased off the shelf. Should you change body kits, have an accident or change body shops, mixed custom paints may be expensive to match.

House of Kolor has some of the best selection of custom car colors. It is easy for shops to get and you can give the shop the paint code color. Check out the color chips listed on their website.

Even after you pick a color, there are other effects such as kameleon, pearls, metallic flakes, mattes, chrome colors, etc. Hell, they actually have a Glo-in-the-dark paint. LOL (Not intended for overall finish but for graphic accents.)

Good luck with the project!

look at hot hues by dupont they are expensive but some of the awesomist colors ever.

Xtreme green looks badass or if you want silver they have their own gunmetal gun color that is quite awesome as well.

I was going to go with the 40th Ann. Gunmetal Pearl color offered on the 40th Ann. 370Z, but I didnt want to spend more money to do the door jams and have a mismatched engine bay so I kept it Chrome Silver.

Here is how she looks now:
