we need to send a barrage of letters to motor trend
they didn't include the 350z roadster in their car of year competition. The rules say the car has to be new or significantly revised. I believe the new '04 roadster is 'significantly revised' from the '03 coupe.
I haven't thought about this because it didn't concern me, but I would suspect they consider it something like a different trim level. Granted, it is very significant, but it really isn't a "new" car; it is a new model of an existing car. Personally, I don't give those contests a lot of credibility anyway. Sure they are interesting and yeah, it would have been nice to have seen a roadster in there, so long as it would have won. But, does anybody really care about that anyway other than the manufacturer? Who buys based on their declarations, anyway? Just a thought.
