So I have a total noob question. Why does Nissan spec out the Z at 287 HP but it dyno's at not even 250?

That's 287 HP to the Crank. Dynos usually shows HP to the wheels.

Wow that was a quick reply, thanks! I didn't realize there was such a big difference between crank HP and wheel HP. Guess I have some learning to do.

More so, that's an oddly low dyno.

Proves you can't hold dyno's as proof of anything. Too many variables. Same car, same day... two dynos can show a +/- high enough to sku any data.

That seems to be about 10 hp down from the average 6MT dyno run. My guess is that the car was not fully broken in a 1175 miles. That's just close to the 1200 limit for driving the car hard. By 3000 or 4000 miles the dyno run would probably be right up there with the others.
