Default Another broken door handle thread

Hi, first post, first thread.

I've spent the better part of the last 24 hours searching threads here and elsewhere about replacing the passenger side outside door handle, and found tons of results. The DIY step-by-step guide found on this site is great.

...except that my door doesn't look like what everybody is describing. It seems that getting behind the 2 grommets is the key to getting things unbolted. Unfortunately my door has but one grommet, and then a steel latch thingy roughly where the other gommet (s/w)ould be. I should point out that this is a 2008 convertible, maybe that makes a difference?

I would just start unscrewing stuff, but I don't have the right size star drivers to remove that sucker.

Get yourself the proper Torx driver and remove that piece. The 10mm door handle bolt should be behind it.

+1 Once you remove that with a Torx bit (AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc), then I'd assume the rest to be the same.

As one of the above posters said get the correct torx driver and all will be the same. I had the same question but just ripped it off anyway. Also save the torx driver I have done this 2 times and had to repurchase the driver.
