Exclamation My convertible won't fully close.

Hey guys! Well recently, I bought a 2004 Nissan 350z Roaster and it has some cosmetic issues! My convertible was forced open from the back end and top end. The convertible top opens and closes but when I put the top on, it won't fully close all the way (leaving 1 inch gap in the back end). It won't fully seal and in the speedometer, it will show me the convertible icon in orange. Any help guys? I'd really appreciate it!

If I understand your question correctly, your top doesn't close all the way after replacement, yes?

When I replaced mine DIY, I found the same problem. Just let the back latch the hook completely, then use your weight to pull silver front latch forward and down. It will stretch in a few weeks. gl

My top wont close either. It got stuck about 3 inches from closing. It wont go either direction, like its wedged. My top isnt new and its been a bit sticky in the past.

Forgot to mention, there is a small rocker switch on the driver side frame. I bent it slightly when I did my top, p1ssed it's very expensive.
It basically tells the control module when the 5th bow is down to kill power to the motor. I was able to straighten it with hemostats/needle-nose. No leaks or wind noise.
I don't have a schematic, sorry.

What do you mean by forced open? Mine just needed to be exercised since the previous owner did not use it often. But if it was forced open you may have some damaged components.

I fixed my top for the moment. I found that there is a small piece of plastic, about 3"x3" that has a spring steel rod through it, about like a paperclip, that opens and closes when the top goes up or down. I found that it jammed the mechanism so it woould move. I got the piece out, fixed it and installed it. I was then able to close the top so the coming rain wouldnt get in
