Experience with carparts.com?
So recently my 04 enthusiast roadster was totaled by a woman who ran a stop sign. Long story short insurance isn’t covering it and I can’t pay the $8337 repair bill. I found a package deal from carparts.com here and was curious if anyone had experience buying from them. This deal just seems way too good to be true. Headlights, quarter panels, and front bumper for only $530 with shipping and handling. Also it’s saying that these parts would only fit a 2003 Z but is there any reason why they would not fit the 2004 model as well?
Michigan insurance laws are horrible. I’m a cheap 19 year old dumbass who told my agent to register me for whatever the state minimum requirement is. Since we are a no fault state, an accident means that regardless of who is at fault, your own insurance company is responsible for covering you. My policy only covered liability and did not have full total collision protection.
The no-fault has nothing to do with property damage and only medical expenses.
Minimum insurance requirements for Michigan
The minimum amount of Michigan auto insurance coverage is $20,000/$40,000/$10,000. In the event of a covered accident, your limits for bodily injury are $20,000 per person, with a total maximum of $40,000 per incident. It also covers up to $10,000 for damage to another person’s property.Liability coverage
As a resident of Michigan, there are two types of liability coverage your insurance policy must include: property damage and bodily injury.- Property damage safeguards your assets if you are found legally responsible for a covered accident. It covers certain damage you may cause to the property or vehicle of another party.
if it has $8300 damage, because that is preliminary estimate... it always goes up when they start tearing the car apart, they prob wont fix it but cut him a check.. which is better than he has now

If you got in a front end collision that is bad enough to break the control arms and tie rods, I would be willing to bet that the frame rails are bent. And you probably need at a minimum a new knuckle, control arms, K member, tie rods, steering rack, crash bar, crash bar mounts, front radiator support, fender liner, undertray, wheel, hood?, radiator, ac condensor, airbox?, airbags, seatbelts, seats... You don't get quoted 8k and only need some new sheet metal.

OK, after all of the sensible advice and clarification on no-fault, OP is still NOT going to go after the "person at fault"?
Makes zero sense to me but if he doesn't want to do it or have own insurance subrogate, well, hey, have to ask why not.
But I won't because it no longer matters.

The story is incomplete. Which end of the Z was struck by the other vehicle? How was the other end damaged- Thrust into a power pole? Another vehicle?
Is it remotely possible that black-out tails prevented the other driver's view of OP's car and that's why her ins won't pay?
Poor Z, glad driver walked away.
