No, the parents aren't rich, the Z is just getting cheaper. The reason for the younger crowd now is because the ones buying them haven't yet learned that cars aren't everything, and it's better to be debt-free, or living comfortably then it is to be spending every spare cent on a depreciating asset.

62, and I've always had nice "toys".
I could care less what anyone else thinks. When they buy my next car, they can tell me what to drive.

Actually, it is not better to be debt free. From an economic perspective, if you are debt free, you are not getting all you can out of life. You should always be partially leveraged in debt because you will have more money to spend, and more incentive to be efficient in what you use the money for. But your point about the Z being cheaper is valid.

28 here. Ballers live debt free by paying cash for everything. Doesn't help the economy or banks that would love to charge years of interest. I grew up on HOC housing and food stamps so I've come a long way, had poverty line parents like many did. Worked for everything I have including my Z. Also had a GTO (crashed) and sunfire.

56 - mid life crisis purchase - I had a 06 Frontier truck which was just fine, took it to dealer for service, truck stayed at dealer, and Zee came home with me. Was not intending to buy Zee, it just happened that way............no complaints other than loss of space for stuff.....coming from truck to Zee with no space........oh well, wouldn't change a thing..........

Recently turned 47. Sold my Harley as I live on Michigan and the riding season was too short and other drivers too busy texting. Started looking for something the wife and I could have fun in and found a 2006 350Z convertible with only 3,000 miles on it for what I thought was a great price. Only had it for a week, but seems like we'll enjoy it for a long time to come.
