Default Rough Idle & Tach Needle Malfunction Resolved

Today I took my car in to have the Mass Air Flow Sensor replaced, it was malfunctioning and causing a rough idle. It is now much better.

My Tach Needle was also malfunctioning. It would sit at 2,000 RPM for a while, then flip back up and start reading the RPM's again. The dealer had told me that the malfunctioning MAF sensor was also causing the Tach to screw up because they were somehow related.

I thought the MAF sensor was the only thing they were replacing, but it took all day. HELLO I WANT MY CAR!! Turns out they had also replaced the entire gauge pod, after speaking with Nissan about the problem.

So far so good. $1,230.00 later. Mileage in to dealer 4,001 miles out of dealer 3,700, oops somebody screwed up when they added in the mileage on the new gauge pod, oooh well I'm not complaining.

Have been waiting to have this fixed to install my JWT Pop Charger. The sound is unbelievably cool and I noticed the engine response instantly. Cant say I noticed a 6.5 HP gain, but it sure acts different all together. I love it, great mod!!!

no more rough idle and popping type noises now ? wow, I do need to take mine in .. the only problem I have seen with my tach is sometimes the needle seems to be bouncing .. but i never gets stuck..

any new rattles since they replaced the guages?

was yours a 2004, or a 2004.5 ? did yours have feathering too ?

Well it really never got stuck like it was hanging up on something. It would work fine then sit and hover at 2,000 RPM's for about 5 minutes, dispite how much you reved it. Then all the sudden it was like it came back online and was working again. Really irritating.

No new rattles, I just notice when I got home that they forgot to put the fuse box cover back on and when I was under there putting it back I noticed a missing screw for the dash. I'm going back tomorrow to have it put back in.

I have a 2004 7/03 build date, no tire feathering as of yet.

Sorry for any confusion. I didn't pay anything. I just had to sign the total bill going to Nissan. I always find it kinda crazy the price of everything. If you had to replace the two items on your own that would be the cost.

My tach stuck once at about 3000 RPM for a few second. At that time, I reved my engine but the tach did not move at all.

But it never happen again since then (a few month ago).

If it happem again I will go to the dealer.

This is a JWT POP-CHARGER, an excellent mod.
