Default Z info...

Hey all, picking up my Z from Washington tomorrow and have some dumb questions on my new car. Whats the difference between a Z and a FairLady Z? Also, is it 287 HP we're putting out at the wheel or is that crank? What esle can I expect from this car? Thanks

YooiY,
The Fairlady Z you are asking about is the Japanese version of the 350Z. You may see some cars with the "Fairlady 350" emblems on the back instead of the "350Z." Another way to tell the Fairlady apart from the US version 350 is the front side marker color. THe Fairlady comes stock with the clear sidemarkers whereas the US 350Z comaes stock with the amber.

By the way, where in Washington are you picking the car up from and why are you traveling so far? Tax purposes? Just wondering.

Yup to all Orion said. In regards to the 287 hp rating, it's at the crank not the wheels. I'm not really into the dyno scene but I believe people where posting that stock vehicles were seeing 220-230 hp at the wheels.

Kool thanks for the info! Glad to know the only difference is the side markers and what not. Bought an eBay Z hence the distance but I still got hit for use tax at the DMV. Boss is telling me its over 7500 miles so I shouldn't be hit with it, but it is out of state so I don't know how that works out...$1300 to register!!
230hp is good for me...enough to pull out on my brothers C230 Kompressor =P

HEHEHE that's my car he bought... I just watched him drive down the driveway with it... I have shed my tears... hopefully in 2007 when I can afford it i'll buy it back from him this guy is great so treat him well! I will not leave the forums even though I am Z less.. but I do have a 280ZX that we're working on! so i guess that counts any rate.. enjoy the drive back!
