Default How does the Z Roadster handle in the rain

I know there have been threads about the Z in the rain before, but since the search isn't working, I have to ask again.

It looks like I'll be taking my Z out into the rain for the first time today, and I'm looking for any advice. Thanks.

Although many have stated problems when it comes to riding in the rain, my experiences have been good. Last week I drove about 400 miles in driving rain. I can't say it was a wonderful experience (is it ever?) but I experienced no problems in handling. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not terribly noisy with the soft top.

you can hear the rain on the soft top as if it were an umbrella, but no negative effects as far as handling or anything for me. just leave the tcs on if you are worried.

Default Rain

The rain is LOUD on the top, but other than that it is fine.

If this is your first fast car with rear wheel drive be carefull in the rain. power + rwd + rain can equal excitement.

But, compared to other RWD cars I have had (Camaros / Firebirds / Mustangs) the Z is great in the rain. I am not sure if it is the car, or just the fact that tires have gotten WAY better, but the car seems FINE in the rain to me.

Just probe the limits a little at a time until you get a feel for it.

I don't drive in the rain unless I get caught in it. I did have rain pretty much for 600 miles when I drove back from Biloxi. It was very windy and the rain came from every direction but not so much where you want to stop driving. I felt very confident in the Z, the wind didn't move the car but there were a few times where I thought the top was gonna get sucked off. It was a scary sound like when I had my C5 Vette and forgot to latch the top down, when I hit around 40mph it just catapulted into the atmosphere.

Hey Thumper90501 - I also have an Injen CAI, you're all right in the rain as long as you don't go thru any DEEP puddles. I've gotten caught in the rain a few times now & have had no problems!

mode101 - check out this post over at 350Zmotoring:

I just did a 300 mile roadtrip from Dallas to College station,TX during a torential rain storm. I was pleasantly surprised how wel the Roadster handled in the heavy rain. Great wipers really helped and the noise on the canopy was a little loud but no worse than any other convertible ive been in. I had no water leakage whatsover so overall experience was quite good.

A few months ago, I was caught in a terrible down-pour coming West into San Diego, Ca, from Arizona where the flow of traffic was stopped in some places going through high elevations. There was snow down to 3,800 ft, and I had no problems with the car driving through it. I have an Injen CAI also, and didn't have any problems with it as well.
