I know the make-up of the top has been of great debate on this website. I decided when I filled out the new car survey, that I would ask them to please give us a final word. I just received a call this morning from Nissan USA and "Keith" said the definitive word on the top is CLOTH.

I am certain this will not end the debate, but I feel the source is pretty credible.

I have been using cloth products.

 

feels like vinyl to me.. my 93 convertible 300zx was cloth/canvas

 

DeZigner, Is it possible to ask "Keith" to put it in writing?

 

Agreed, my Eclipse Spyder had a canvas/cloth top. You could positively tell it was a cloth top. This top feels like vinyl to me too. I dont think I have ever felt a cloth anything that feels like this top does. I believe that the Japanese have done an excellent job on making this vinyl look like cloth, but it still feels and acts like vinyl.

 

One other thing.. Don't you think the top feels really thin? The canvas feeling top was very thick/durable feeling

 

Probably could be heavier, but I must say I have been impressed how quite it is when the top is up. This is my first convertible, so I have nothing to compare it to, but, like I said, I'm happy.

And I try to have the top down as much as possible!
