OK..36K is the top of my budget before Tax, title & License. Do you guys think I can find a Touring roadster for that price. If not what did you pay? Oh and if it matters I live in Sunrise, FL (south florida)

Thanks guys.

Good luck in finding a new Touring roadster with automatic trans. for that price. The selling price of a vehicle (anything for that matter) in a free market is dependent on the old law of supply and demand. A dealer will charge as much as the market will bear and right now, at least here in No. CA, this car is in hight demand. I just ordered my 2004 350Z Touring Roadster, 6 MT with all options but Nav system and paid MSRP without a trade-in to cloud the issue of true cost.

Here's the cheapest touring roadsters in my area, both with 5 miles on the odometer:

6sp:

2004 NISSAN 350Z TOURING ROADSTER SILVERSTONE CHARCOAL 279969 Mossy Nissan Kearny Mesa $36,150

5AT:

2004 NISSAN 350Z TOURING ROADSTER LE MANS SUNSET BURNT ORANGE 279559 Mossy Nissan Oceanside $36,990

So if you bump up to 37K before T&L, you can do it.

I live in AZ and see no reason why you can not get close to that. The MSRP on my car (CB Roadster, 6SP, Touring) was 37,020. I picked it up for just over 34600 (but that added tint and window etching, a $400 increase, price without was 34,200). So depending on what you TTL is there I say you would be in the low 36000 range. With TTL for me, I was out the door at $38000. Take off the 400, and get no options and that should be under 37000

I looked around and was able to find a 6MT Touring roadster with 18" wheels and Navigation that had 500 miles (basically new) for $36K.

I wouldn't go so far as to accuse a dealer of being greedy. He is in business and out to maximize his profits so why should he sell you a car for less than he could sell it to someone else. As I said above, what determines the price of anything in a free market is supply and demand. If someone wants that car more than you, then they will pay more than you are willing to pay.

Hmm...500 miles is a lot of test drive miles. Regardless of price, I'm not sure I want to buy a car that nearly 1/2 of the break in period has been ignored on.

Ditto that about 500 test car miles. I was offered the exact car I wanted but it had almost 200 mi on it. I turned it down to wait for one off the boat with a known history ---none!

Well the 500 miles were not test drive mile but someone bought the car and decided to trade it in on a 911.

My Manual, 18" Wheel, Touring (everything except Navigation) ran me $1600 under MSRP. If that helps.

I used a dealer recommended by someone on this forum. Turned out to be a very good lead. The dealership is Hippodrome in Nashville. The internet sales person was Trent Earlie. Nice guy. No BS.

Web site is: http://www.hippodromecars.com/HippodromeOldsNissan/

Regarding the 18" wheels. I really don't know how they effect performance. I originally wanted 17" wheels. The car on the lot had 18" wheels, and I was getting tired of looking around for exactly what I wanted.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response, your reference for Trent helps alot. I had already made contact with him and he seemed to be a straight shooter. Your feedback confirms it, his price is right as well.
I am going with the 18" as that is what the car has also. Sure it wont hurt.
Will work to close a deal tommorrow.
thanks again

Can anyone tell me whether it is reasonable to ask for a raw enthusiast model with no options for $32,500 before TTL? The MSRP on that is $34,610 and i figure 2000 off msrp is not outrageous... I live in So Cal by the way.

Default I paid MSRP.......

but it all depends on how flexible you are with colors, options, etc. For me, I wanted a very specific car and nothing else would do. I t also depends on where you live. In the Northeast, they can't keep these things in the showroom for more than a day. I looked within a 100 mile radius. Couldn't get below MSRP for what I wanted: Daytona Blue/frost leather/6-speed/ touring

I bought a new superblack touring roadster in mid may of this year. They are very reluctant to come off the price it seems. As a matter of fact, they tried to add $765 as additional dealer markup but I talked them out of it.

My Z was still in plastic when I got it. The only convertible on the lot and it had just come in off the truck.

I paid $38,400 for my SB/BO Touring Roadster with 18" wheels, Nav, alu. kickplates, etc. With tax, title, etc it was $41,134. I bought it from Dick Scott Nissan in Canton, Michigan.
