For some reason, I don't think that is a language.

You prolly need to provide a link to the actual website. Somebody might be able to help you then.

You need to go to View, Encoding in your IE browser, there will be a choice for languages, if you pick Japanese, then it will convert that mumbo jumbo to actual Japanese. You need someone a naive speaker to translate it though because those online translators are crap.

I think it stuff you had before is some other language, might be Farsi, IE will default it to some other language if you don't change it yourself.

I would suggest not using racial slurs unless you to would like remarks directed at your,(Polish?), ancestry. Japanese is more appropriate in this day and age. Just a small netiquette message from someone who has suffered from 'profiling' in the past.
Yes I know Australians and New Zealanders still use the term in everyday conversation, but it is somewhat derogatory... and they still use 'terms' for all folks not of anglo-saxon ancestry there as well.
Oops!

Wow, seems more and more like that other .com place, eh?

Not to go off subject, and I don't use the particular term myself, but I've always wondered why "Brit" or "Aussie" is OK, but that one isn't. All are shortening of the full "correct" term.

I don't use it, because I know the Japanese do not like it, but I don't understand this PC world sometimes.

BTW, I'm not questioning whether he should be mod'd, either.

Basically, it has to do with WWII and the sentiment surrounding various people then. "Jap" was used as a derogatory term then by most of the people fighting against them. A similar slur would be to call somebody from German descent a "kraut," again commonly used and widely acceptable when the world was at a different place. Both had connotations that referred to much more than the location from which somebody was from. Today, both terms aren't quite PC and bring to mind some memories that are painful to many.

I think "Aussie" and "Brit" are self-generated terms, ie. by the citizens of those countries, and are thus not considered to be inflammatory. Most people I have met from Australia or England take those terms as words of pride.

You people are probably the same type of individuals that take Bugs Bunny cartoons because of war time propoganda that happened way back when. Hello, I tried to explain that I can't spell. It's actually obvious as I spelled Japanesse like this in a previous post! I'm a Polack, do I care, I get made fun all the time, blow it off. And by the way...... IT WAS A SPELLING ERROR!!!

I don't think he intended to call anyone a "Jap" in the "Kraut" sense, it was more a "Jap" in the "Ger" sense. Either way, words don't bother me; not even "Yank." (As tasteless as it sounds, I didn't pick it.) Countries are just made up lines. Anyone who will give their life for liberty is OK by me.

Would a moderator please change the abbreviation [edit] in the subject line [/edit] to the full word so we can get back to talking about Z's?

I agree, I don't think he intentionally used "Jap" knowing all the previous wartime connotations. He did use it in the "Ger" sense, apparently because he can't spell Japanese (or Chinese.) Rx0 just pointed out though, that some people might not take it that way. Call me old school, but spelling on the Internet is atrocious, as is the grammar and syntax.

The old Bugs Bunny cartoons about the war are some of the best ones out there. Can you imagine the Power Rangers making shows about say...Desert Storm? On a side note, Dr. Seuss was a very prolific wartime cartoonist. There's a book about about it, quite interesting to read.
