Default top makes loud metallic "PAK" sound when closing

once in a while, when i close my top, during the last phase where the soft top latches onto the tonneau cover, i hear a loud "PAK" sound. as if, it has to force itself into the hole. i have had it looked at by nissan twice and they said they fixed it.... after a few weeks, it comes back.

has anybody else had this happen to them?

my tonneau cover doesnt seem crooked or uneven or anything. they also had to fix the alignment of my top twice because the latch at the front wasnt matching up with the hole on the top of the windshield area.

maybe i am not describing it properly. usually, my top just slips into the hole. with a muted sliding noise.

but for the past few months, off and on, when the latch goes into the hole, it has a really loud "PATAK!!" sound. almost as if it has to force it's way into the hole. that is definately not normal for my car.

sometimes, it startles me. when the service guys heard it, they admitted that it was not normal. it always comes back though a while after they fix it. kind of annoying.

i used to watch the seat go back, but now i just look at that light on the dash panel and wait for it to turn off.

that sound just makes me think that something is getting damaged. oh, well.
