Z hardtop looks better than Roadster?

I just think the room line is what makes the Z look good. Anyone agree?

This is a useless thread... why compare apple and orange? Convertible tops are there out of necessity not for viewing purpose. (bad weather driving and protection) 10 out of 10 hard tops will look better than roadsters with top up.
If any of you can name a roadster/convertible with top up that looks better than hardtop counter part. I'll stop laughing and give credit to this thread.
Some of you guys actually believe Roadster owners buy ZR for their top up look? LOL... That's just hysterical...

I have never really liked any convertible as much as the hardtop versions. Whether it be the 350Z, or a Porsche 911 or any other car available in both hard top and convertible, i find the lines of the car are somewhat "lost" with the convertible version. My personal taste of course....

I for one am actually quite surprised to hear how many people dislike the look of the roadster with the top up. I was expecting somewhat the opposite. While I will agree with you that most roadster owners don't buy the car with visions of driving around top-up in mind, it's still a position they (you) find themselves in, so the look is naturally subject to comparison.
There are cars that look decent with the top up, in-fact quite natural. The Jaguar XK8 is one of those cars. The Corvette is another. I think both of these cars look more natural with the top down, but still have their natural lines with it up. I think the point alot of people are trying to make is that the roadsters top doesn't flow with the rest of the lines on the car. It almost seems as if the top was an afterthought. In any case, the car was clearly designed around "top-down" because it's a damn beautiful car in that configuration...Especially in yellow
First of all, no one buys a roadster for its top up looks. You buy it for the top down experience.
Secondly, I'd bet that it's not a hardtop because of cost and the ability to put a set of golf clubs in the trunk.

I'm not sure about the Caddy, but with the SLK you lose a lot of trunk space with the top down due to storage of the two large top pieces. I can still golf clubs in my trunk with the top down.

I agree with most of you. It's really a personal preference. I just don't like the look of most rag tops with the top up. Most look very sexy top down.
The only rag top I've ever owned was a Jensen Healy Roadster (my 1st sports car). Lot's of fun to drive and actually didn't look to bad "top up". Before my latest Z I almost bought a Boxter S but it had really bad wind noise top up & didn't and I didn't want to mess with the optional hard top. The other car I almost bought was the SLK 230 with the retractable hard top. Very nice looking car imo but was absolutely gutless.

I like the look of the roadster with the top up except when from behind it's a little less attractive. With the top down and the burnt orange seats it's one sexy ride that turns heads!
The coupe's lines are better I agree, but it's not convertible so it's a no go for me.
A hardtop convertible would probably make it way too heavy as well.
