Coupe looks better overall.

The roadster looks sweet with the top down, but with top up it looks like a$$.

I was also disappointed when the roadster came out. I originally waited to buy a 350Z because I read that the convertible would be out in 04. I had hoped for a hard top convertible like the SLK or SC430 has especially for the amount of extra money Nissan wants for the roadster. Plus I think it's more secure that way. I know I would have lost storage space, but it's not like Z owners have a lot of space anyway.

Question

I’m surprised that even some zr owner doesn’t like the look of their car with the top up. I guess I’m lucky. I like the looks of my car top up or down. I looked at other roadsters (In this price range) and didn’t like the looks or the performance or both, but the zr is the complete package.

I bet most of the coupe owners who knocks the zr haven’t driven it. I have driven both and I’m a big Z fan. I like the look of the coupe, but I would not buy one. Just not my cup of tea. I’m not trying to get in a pissing mach. I love my Z bothers and sisters. Driving the zr with the top up is awesome! But put the top down and hold on to your socks!!!

I just wanted to speak up of the people who have a deferent opinion. I’m not taking anything away form the looks of the coupe, but IMHO the zr looks good top up or top down, in good weather or bad, and on top of that I have over 12k miles on it and can’t wait for the next drive (top up or down ). Go ahead and call me crazy. I don’t care. I like the looks of my car and I’m not afraid to say it.

Thanks, I fill better now.

Like I said. It's a personal preference. I love all Z's. I just prefer to drive a coupe. I do wish for T's like my other Z's though. Even though I rarely even took those out.

Yup totally agree with the others,a Z is Z, no matter what trim. But with that being said, we also chose the coupe over the Zr, not just for apperances sake but for safety reasons also, never felt safe in a soft top car. Mabey tho? like another poster mentioned a lexus type hardtop convert, but then the Z would really be $$$.

I absolutely agree. My previous car was a G35 sedan, and my next choice was a G35 Coupe. Then I decided I wanted a convertable, and the ZR was the logical choice. I had no intrest in the Z coupe, since you can get the G coupe with back seats and the same speed plus luxury. Some people don't understand. The fact that my car is a convertable makes me love it 10 times more than any hardtop!

Yup the roadster is ultra cool! But I went for performance and I couldn't make the price for a roadster. Nothing better than a warm night with the top down and dual throbbing. The lady's panties will definitely get wet.

Top down it really rocks. Best looking in price class by far. Top up it really looses something.

I owned 03' coupe and could not stand the boxed in feel (no sunroof). Thought I could get use to it, but found that I was just made to enjoy the fresh air. It doesn't matter that some thinks my car looks like a$$ with the top up. It's a Z...top up or top down. I just feel proud and lucky that I own one. Basically, I have never had anyone say to me that my car looks like crap with the top up. Everyone I know loves it. I can enjoy my ride so much more than others with just a push of a button.

I'm currently a 2003 350z coupe owner and recieving my roadster next week. I'm kinda with you guys with the top up, it does look a wee bit strange. But gawd, with the top down... its a whoooole different ball game. I mean i get a couple looks from people when im in my Z but with the top down people just stop and stare. I think it looks awesome with the top down, i love it!!!! But the coupe has a really sexy roofline for sure.

Hardtop is my fav, but the convertables look sweet as well.

I wish Nissan would bring back the T-tops somehow... That would make the Z even better!
