Culture too. Europe is known for having a driving culture. The average person doesn't eat food and talk on the cell when they drive. The average person may know more about cars than over here. That might play a factor on when they are told to change their oil.

I just got my lab analysis today, they suggest running the next oil setup for 6,500mi.

5000 mile changes is even fine for the nonsynthetic if driven in a normal manner.

Plus I plan to switch to synthetic once the oil stops showing breakin.
I wouldn't necessairly believe and trust all of the info you get from your UOA's. I thought they were a great idea at the time I was doing them. They always came back looking great, until Nissan told me I needed a new engine. Then all the UOA hype went out the window.

It's sickening to think about how much oil is wasted in this country. We've been programmed to buy into the 3K/3MO OCI.

The factory service manual says we can change at 3,750 miles.

So you messed up your engine from waiting until 5K to change your oil instead of 3K? How far did you without an oil change? Please give us some more details. (Not trying to bash).

Without explicit details, how am I supposed to take this post?

I have no idea what caused your engine's problem, let alone what that problem might have been.

I'm not talking down to you, but unless you provide some background here and some concrete evidence that an overextended oil change interval caused your problem, I'll still be doing as I please with regards to OCI and UOA...

More details on your car please, year, miles, etc ??

Fuel in the oil, does not sound good.

I'm wondering if it has to do with using synth...

2006 base, miles at change was 15k, current as of 11/26/06 were 18k. All are highway miles, never redline.

I think I screwed up with my sample, I forgot to extract from the middle of the oil draw, I took the first 4 ounces of oil from the bottom of the pan which they say do not do. But I wanted to know if there were any metal traces found primarily. That is probably why there was fuel in the oil.

I submitted a sample for analysis the end of January with 7,350mi on the change with RP 10W-30 and a K&N oil filter and this was the POSITIVE result:

What is the break-in schedule for a new Z? The dealer told me that new engines these days don't need to be broken in like they used to. I have an '06 with about 500 miles on it so far. Since the '06's are known for oil consumption issues, I wanna make sure I break it in correctly. Thanks! :-)

There is a lot of controversy with how people should break in.

But, if you follow the owner's manual suggestion, you should be fine.

Yet another 5,000 mile + oil change with a positive result. See UOA below.
