Start/Stop Button Issue
I've had my 370Z for 2 years now and put 37,000 miles on it. Friday I was driving and went to dinner w my family. Once I was done and got into my car the car wouldn't start. I thought it might be the key fob so I had my spare and tried it nothing. I put the key in the key slot, nothing. Lights worked and everything worked. But the car wouldn't go from lock to on when I'd press the button. I tried shift lock release and turning the steering wheel slightly as the manual told me to do. I ended up towing the car to Nissan. They're not sure of the problem, but another Z has a similar problem and needs a new steering wheel column. Problem is they don't readily make those at all so it's taking three weeks to make it. Anyone else have a similar issue? I'm hoping it's just electrical, but still, this car shouldn't have this kind of start issue after 2 years.

This is a common issue with the 370Z. PM me for a link to a DIY for the repair. Your dealership may warranty the work, though. It's the steering lock not disengaging that's the problem. The part number for the part that's (most likely) failed is 48700-JF00*. The last character (the *) will change based on what revision you have. You want to replace it with Revision D. Do NOT use Revisions A,b, or C. They'll all fail again. If you go to the dealership for this and they're not sure what you're talking about, tell them that the same part causes the same problem on the GTR and it's actually a recall.
