Default What exactly makes Volk wheels so great?

I think the Volk GTS are hands down the sexiest 5 spoke rims ever made. However, before I dump $2k+ on a set, I want to understand why they are so much more expensive than other rims.

If it's just for looks and the fact that they originated many of the popular designs that others are ripping off, I'll have to seriously consider spending that much on a set of wheels. Bragging rights are not important to me at all. I hope others like my Z, but at the end of the day, my opinion of my Z is the only one that really matters to me.

What am I getting besides great looks and bragging rights for that much money? Low weight? Build quality? Other benefits?

TIA

can't speak for the GTS. it's quite a bit heavier but my TE37s are really strong and light. I'm running stretched tires, hit many big potholes, had blow outs riding on the rims and it's still straight as an arrow when put on a balancer. I just changed the tires again couple of days ago by myself and the wheels are so light even being 19" and 10.5 inch wide.

for me, you get lightweight, monoblock strength and bragging rights.

Maybe this will help you understand why they are expensive.

What you get for the price: proven racing quality, original/innovative designs, lightweight, quailty and some of the best wheels on the market. The only drawback about Volks is cleaning the drool off of them when others look at your car.

P.S. I guarantee you Varrocrapsteins and other imitation models do not go through this process especially when a set of their wheels are the same price as 1 Volk wheel.

What else are you expecting? they are just wheels and I think you answered your own question.

I would add that Rays wheels in general have great Brand equity and hold value better than their cheaper counterparts.

I would say balance, materials used, durability and unique designs. I have 19" Top Secret Gold GT-C's on my Z and though I have never really hit a hard pothole in the, I would like to say they are just extremely well-made and good looking.

I would also like to say that my Sentra has 17" Konig Holes that have been though HELL ever since I had the car in 2000. Unlike my Volks which haven't seen a big pothole, my Konigs have seen many and their strength and build quality amazes me.

What if your dah ghay's? Can they be removed?

Buy yeah, I think it's more because of the materials and build process.

I'm running the Rays track wheels V1, they are light as feather (~18LP) but not that strong

Would love to get a set of gold or time attack TE37's.

Not that strong???? Plz explain.

If you think those aren't strong, what would make you think TE37 are that much different.

Don't understand me wrong!! they are one of the best wheels in the market.

I didn't meant that they are that weak!! lol, but some people think they are made by Jesus and will withstand any thing.

I had three of them fixed in two years. (we don't have the best roads here but never had a wheel bent with my previous cars )

This link probably explains it best

http://hubpages.com/hub/volk-te-37

- in my opinion Volk are the best when it comes to quality , durability , and looks .
I have te37s gunmetal and wouldnt change them
If it wasnt Volk, It probably be a nice set of Advan wheels .
But like others have said , Volk are legit and well the gurlies love em on my Z haha

Maybe a Volk dealer can reprogram them.

I've had numerous wheels ranging from BBS', Works, Enkei's, Volks. What makes Volks good is: Strength, Lightness, and fit/finish. I don't think the lips and barrels are forged though but overall they're good wheels.
