David V. I take it you drive your call all year round? Or it sits out in the rain? I have about 3000 miles on the rotors but I leave it in the garage and don't drive it in the rain. Ouch on the rust. The stock rotors didn't even rust like that.

Yes. My 350Z is a daily driver: sun, rain and snow. No garage, but the car is always covered.

I just ordered the drilled/slotted rotors; front & rear. I really didn't want the drilled/slotted ones but they come zinc coated and I don't like the rust look on davidv's - no offense. Can't beat the price so I'll give them a try. I have Hawk HPS pads to put on them. Mine's a daily driver.

So far everyone that has posted about having them has said they are holding up fine. Has anyone had any problems so far: cracking, etc?

Anybody know if they have cross-drilled and slotted rotors for Brembo equipped Z's?

Could not find the info on this. Thanks.

I recently installed the R1 rotors with Hawk pads (see thread below). My stock rotors were done at 65K. These feel a world of difference. My car stops again, lol. Great product and props to R1 for a great price....

Never paid much attention to the weights. The wheels seem well balanced to me.

i've never had more than four of those small stick on weights and may be one medium size counter weight on the inside. A defective tire or wheel requires a lot more weights for counter balancing.

I installed the cross drilled & slotted rotors on all four corners with Hawk HKS pads, they came with a Zinc coating in about 9 days. They have been on my car for about 10 months now over 10,000 miles on em with no problems at all.

Pros: they look damn good, stop with more authority, the price is nice, after mult track days no brake fade to mention, not as single crack or warpage, and no rust except after a rain the pads will wear the rust right off in just a few minutes.

Cons: the snoBBy Z types prefer to drop names to impress other snob types, the hole in the original rotors for the small screw the keep the rotor tight to the backing plate is not on these babies

Also replaced the brake lines with stainless steel lines and using DOT4 brake fluid for higher boiling temps from NAPA $9.00 for 32 OZ. Also took all the calipers off and spent another $5.00 in VHT red high temp paint, the whole package took the better part of a day to let the paint dry, only wish I had clear coated the calipers after spraying em red.

the rotors look good! as do the red calipers... the painted pads and clips & bleeder screw look a little odd to me but not in a bad way..

the CON of no front bolt sounds like a PRO to me

good eye, these were the stock pads, before the Hawk brake pads it was much easier to paint em this way

I just orded a set of four from r1, and a set of hawk pads from tirerack.com all for 325. I figured my car stays in the garage all year around, and only sees the rain if I get caught in some storm.

Is the small screw necessary?

those may be centric rotors. i know r1 concepts carry centric rotors. i was told there are two kinds that centric makes, a regular and premium. premium rotors can be identified with black hats.

Not at all , actually with most aftermarket wheels it needs to be removed.

Got a problem.
Has any have expericened this please chime in.
I put my r1 slotted cross drilled rotors on about 2 weeks ago. Everything was fine. (Remind you this not my daily driver. Only comes out on the weekends) Driven the car over the weekend everything is fine. My beater car had to go into the shop for some work, so I was forced to drive the z everyday for the past week.

Here is the problem -- when I apply my brakes (moderately or aggressively) I get a thumping noise from my right rear wheel. This did not start to happen until I put on the new r1 rotors and hawk pads. I pulled the wheel, and everything was fine. Rotor was smooth with no imperfections, pads was smooth with no defect. Looked like normal wear.

Their is no pulsating (sp) in the steering wheel or brake pedal when I apply the brakes. Car stops on a dime, as I been driving the car the thumping has been getting louder. It is weird because it is only coming from the right rear wheel.

^ did you double check the torque on the bolts holding the caliper to the bracket? If non-Brembo, the bolt(s) to the slider?

I have non-brembo.
No I did not check the bolts holding the caliper to the bracket, I pulled the wheel and rechecked the pads to make sure the pads were wearing evenly.

It sounds like someone is take a rubber mallet is baning a table. It only happens when braking, so I thought it might have been the pad making contact with the rotor. My thoughts is that it is three parts rotor, pads, and maybe caliper

Is there a difference between the zinc coating and the black e-coating they offer?
