Found some interesting news while doing research on R1Concepts.

Their blank premium rotors are purchased from Centric Parts out of Industry, California. They are drilled and slotted though inhouse by r1concepts. Though I dont know if all their rotors are bought from centric or just their premiums.

Who are Centric Parts you might add? They are the owners of Stoptech and Powerslot. Also, where does Rotora get their blank rotors? Thats right, Centric. Where does Centric get their rotors? The best answer I could find was "asia", but that's pretty vague.

R1Concepts Premium Rotors use the same blanks as Stoptech and Rotora. Most people are using the cheaper in price e-line, so it would be nice to see some background info on them.

@r1: Which kind of gray iron grade is used for your brake rotors? If this ain't no secret (could not find any info on the website).

R1Concepts rotors are excellent quality. I have a set for my OEM Brembos to install on my G35 sedan soon. The service and price are first rate. Call Sam at R1 Concepts if you have questions.

Thumbs up 10,000 mile followup

The front brakes are great both in dry and wet weather. Quiet. Dust is unnoticeable. I could measure the rotors but see little point. Will post an update at 20,000 miles.

I have had my rotors (cross drilled / slotted) on since sept, and the rotors are holding up great. However my car is a garage queen.

My R1 rotors were installed 2 years ago approx 15.000 miles since then in the dry desert southwest heat. When the rains are heavy I notice small amounts of rust on the hats, but as you drive the car the rust is removed, these were in house zinc coated at R1. I just happened to see somebody here in Albuquerque ordered in some StopTech f/r rotors in from B&B brake this past friday they tell me they are for a 03 PPW. Anyway I popped the boxes open to check em out, only difference between R1 & StopTech is the hats are the premium black coating on the StopTechs.

I painted the rear rotors black. Lets see if that helps eliminate corrosion. They will be installed this week.

I have had a set of their cross drilled/ slotted on for about 5 months know with EBC red. So far no problems and quality and service is excellent.

I paid less than $200 for 4 rotors and 4 pads. Doubt if they are coated.

Instead of having to wipe off the excess paint you can let the pads burn it off during bed-in. That way it'll be coated in only the areas that are not touched.

Usually a semi-flat looks nice. It's purely cosmetic and nothing will happen to performance. It might have been said before, but it's not just R1concepts rotors that rust as it's natural and happen to all iron rotors sooner or later. Hope this helps those who've had this problem in the past.
