There's something that I'm hoping someone who is following this thread could answer: Aren't brake rotors made of cast iron? No even steel or any iron alloy, but simply iron? From my understanding this is intentionally done to provide the best heat cycling durability in a rotor and also the reason why they seem to rust almost instantly when exposed to water. That being the case; isn't an iron cast part fairly cheap to manufacture and differences in the quality of the metal irrelevant? If so, the question on the quality of a rotor would be based on percision and methods used in it's manufacturing.

Your absolutely right. Quality will also depend on the grade of raw-material iron being used, the presence of contaminants, the condition of the casting molds etc.
The process and heat treating the company employs will also determine what the final crystalline structure of the material is. Their process and machining tolerances will dictate the final quality of the product.
Basically, the best product will come from the company which employs the best Quality Controls.

I'll be picking a set of these up very soon, in my opinion brakes are just like anything else you buy, they are made by the same people with differant names. these rotors are probably cast in the same molds that companys like stoptech uses, they just don't have that brand name stamped on em.

Just to get something out about x-drilled rotors. X-drilled rotors started on race cars as a weight reduction mod. It is just for looks. They are also prone to crack easier than slotted rotors. I seen this happen a few times, once to myself.
scroll down to cracking.

I just got everything installed about 5 days ago..... They are great! I have been driving a bit rough just to get the feel of the new rotor/pad combo. And they work great. They are some new low price brand but theyve been great for the few days. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on these rotors.
Incase you are wondering I have the R1 drilled and slotted with RedStuff pads.
I do get very minor brake squeel!! hopefully it goes away
