What kind of audio install? The basic install or somthing custom?

The iPhone 4 pre sale is chaos and out of control. Never seen anything like this for a pre order of a phone. Security breach, server overloads, long lines, insane! Glad mines went smooooth. http://m.gizmodo.com/5563909/apple-i...yline=true&s=i

Can we just pre-order them tomorrow or something? I don't want to deal with all this. Or does the pre-order only go for today? I just want to do it at like 3 am or something.

headunit, front and rear speakers, subwoofer, and amps. basically replacing everything and bypassing all the bose crap that came with the car.

my coworkers were trying to pre-order the phone today. One of them was pretty upset when he found out that you couldn't preorder the white one

I'd suggest ditching the rear speakers and buying the best set of front components possible. I don't know of any shops around here, if u don't find anyone I can do everything except run new speaker wires though the door (biggest PITA imo).

I just pre-ordered mines through best buy and it took me like 10 minutes.

I got a buddy who does this stuff. It would be nice for him to get a practice run on another Z before he does mine, lol. I'd trust him to do anything, he's won a competition or two and is a dealer for some brands, has his own forum and some other stuff I could list as qualifications.

His name is Steve, check him out if you want, tell him I sent you.

I was considering door pods. The only ones i know of are the ones made by Wicked C.A.S and i really couldn't justify spending 180 on them. are there any other companies out there that make them?

Does he have a shop or is he mobile?

I don't think it'll sound too bad with the rear speakers. they aren't components so i don't think the sound is gonna be messed up or anything. i'll let you know if i am unable to find anyone

Eliminate the rear stage altogether. Realistically speaking, it's not even a stage. It's "rear fill". You are probably so used to having rear speakers all the time, but when you do it right and have a proper component set up front you will be amazed at the sound. Use the rear speaker money on the door pods.

Analogy...
Buying good audio components, but cheaping on the install and overall staging is just like buying a turbo kit and not tuning the computer to account for it. Big no-no!

Do it right. And if you aren't really sure how to, just ask. Quakerroatmeal has a really sweet setup in his Z. He knows what he's talking about.

Mobile- your place, his apartment, or his mom's house. Yeah, I know it sounds sorta creepy, lol, but his mom (I call her Mom2) doesn't use her garage for anything except parking her car (6MT G37S) so he uses it as storage plus a place to do all his wood working, and keeps his air compressor there. We did a ton of work on my last car and his last car (IS300, never again...) out there. He can also go mobile, I'm sure, but you might wanna ask him first. I'll shoot ya a PM with his cell number, I'll let you guys work out the details.

Oh, and I forgot to add as far as qualifications, he is also the Car Audio moderator over on my.is, and has like, 8 kajilion posts over on DIY Audio.

Default Subframe is out!!

You guys remember me making these right???

Solid Diff bushings:

Rear solid subframe diff bushing and front diff ears:

Well I couldn't have done it without AcidJake's help!! but yesterday we knocked out my sub-frame removal! Thanks so much buddy for helping me!

This is definitely a two man job and very slow, time consuming process........Not really hard, but very very in-depth is all!

SUBFRAME OUT:

NOW UNDER THE CAR:

WHERE DOES IT ALL GO:

I opted to drop the entire subframe and use Jacob's tall 10 ton press like they show it being done here:

I didn't wanna do the hack saw method under the car...........and well, this gave me an excuse to drop the subframe..........

I would also like to add, that i called GTM (not sure who i talked to) and i also called FORGED Performance (talked to Alex) and both companies were willing to talk and discuss the process with me..........I called because insight is worth more than hindsight........

Thanks again Jacob for your help...........

Default Press tool!

oh, and I also found out that the Z has its own press tool for the rear subframe bushing!

Pretty much a perfect fit:

Nope. Bumper is basically junk. The emblem is yours.

If anyone needs a spare frt bumper for tracking, you can have it. It has a hole cut out for the intake & the side markers are gone.
