After some much thought and playing around with some other boards and the new VBulletin software I'm going to simplify the site

IE Body Interior Exterior Lighting and the subforums within will all just become one.

Seems a lot of peoples attention span is short and they hate to go through the subs so they just post in the main. (I'll admit I'm one of them) However, It doesnt happen on all boards but some.

And seeming how posts get moved and redirects stay it only clutters the boards more end result making it harder for the end users to see what they want to see.

When I created a lot of the subforums it was to improve the abilty to find, get info and less clutter the boards. But actually it made it worse. With the exception of a few, like the classifieds.

With the newer version of VBulletin the Search feature is more prominently displayed and does a better search function making it actually easier to find data. So there isnt really a need for some of the extra boards.

I will be doing this in liu of getting the new server ready.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys and girls no so if data gets moved around you will know why.

Thank you. I used to enjoy that forum, and look forward to enjoying it again. You have to be careful with sub-forums, but I also use them in my advertising section.

 

I think the new classified format s*cks. I can't go in there anymore and see everything for sale but have to drift through subs. I may want anything for sale and not just a single category.
Of course you can't do a blank search to find them all either.
oh well.

 

Sounds like your just there lurking to look for random stuff..
The greater majority of the people using the site looking for parts have some sort of idea what they are looking for.

However, like I had said in my post prior there the new search feature of VB is better you can search the subforums so all you would need to do is a search with a wildcard IE * or all or something.

 

Please keep the divided Classifieds section. It was very helpful to have sections for Exhaust, Wheels/Tires, Audio, etc...

 

Is it me or is the classified section not there anymore?

Whats different about the search feature? This is just an example: before the update I would search for nismo exhaust by title only, and I would get back hundreds of threads.
Now searching for nismo exhaust by title, I get 4 or 5 threads. Same thing happened when searching for "microfiber"...before many more than the three I am getting now. And I am searching the entire forum when performing searches.

 

He said in another thread that he is rebuilding the search index.

 

Anyone know where the gallery went to?

Is the Email notification function for when someone replies to a thread I've also posted on disabled? I haven't been receiving any updates of the threads.

 

ZZtop, Maybe your options got deleted on your profile, My email notification works fine. Just go in and check all your options again. BEN

 

Checked options, everything is set up right...still no email notifications!

 

I've been getting mine just fine. I get them for PM's and for threads.

 

Hmmmm.....not getting for PM's or threads. This sucks.
