The way it opens and closes is assanine! First this thing comes WAY out...then the screen folds back so the LCD side is facing up...then it sucks back into the dash. Just more parts to break and doesn't look as good as some other units at comparable prices.
I'm waiting to have my new unit installed. An Alpine IVA-D300. Really nice HU for $1,499 installed. I highly recommend you take a look at it. It is one of the more technologically advanced Multimedia Head Units on the market right now. It has Pulse touch so if you push a button on the screen it feels like you are acutally pushing a real button. REALLY NEAT! Plus if you want for $99 you can buy an interface(Alpine is the only one who has this currently) that allows you to plug in/control an I-POD with the controls on you HU. Again...I HIGHLY recommend that you take a look at the Alpine IVA-D300. I did and I am very glad that I took the time to learn about it.

Default If you buy a Kenwood...Go with the DDX7015

I think it's better than the one you have posted.

I agree with both of you.
Alpine is better than Kenwood, and the DDX7015 is a better unit than the one you posted at the top. I have the Alpine IVA-D900 in my M3 and its incredible. Only downside is it doesnt have touchscreen. Im putting the DDX7015 in my sister-in-law's truck for her, so I will see how I like that unit once I play with it a little.

$1,499 is the installed price for the HU and the I-POD interface. Of course you can find lower prices online. Big BUT...most of the time you will have the hardest time getting warranty work since Alpine has very few authorized online dealers. The one you listed not being one of them. Therefore that price you put is with no warranty or installation.

I don't even waste my time looking at online prices unless I am on a website of a business whose first source of product sales is a store-front. I'd rather spend a little more and have the security of someone to go back to if anything breaks.

And another thing... I've seen a lot of sites scamming people by not including the "brain"(computer control module) for the HU.

I have the KVT915 in my Denali and it is amazing. Used Kenwood all my life and never had any problems. I have the KVT911 in my Z which is non motorized. You can adjust the angle on the screen so I don't think that should be a problem. I think you would be happy with it.

Good luck. Seriously. A lot of installers will only install what they sell. And if they do install it they'll jack the price up to about $80-$100 an hr. for the install.

Hope you get it all worked out! :-)
