Engine Whine
Hey guys,
just installed my stuff this weekend and its sounding pretty good, but there is a terrible whine that can come up, especially at higher RPMs.
Info about my setup:
I have the head unit and Amp grounded properly (it is a common ground). The Amp itself is locted behind the driver's side, where the old Bose Sub was - we made a custom box, so it isn't touching the chassis. I am grounding the amp to a ground bolt just behind the driver's door where a ground wire for the car's electical system is grounding (is this bad? to ground to the same bolt that the car's stuff is grounding?).
My amp's power is running along the passenger side and then across to the sub-compartment, so it crosses paths at one point with the RCA's, which are running down the center console along with the rear speakerwire and passenger-door speakerwire (is it bad to run speaker wire with RCA's?). I am using fairly high quality, directional interconnects, and thick speakerwire, and amp wire.
Any suggestions? Anything obvious I did wrong?

Other parts of the cars electrical system can cause noise in your stereo system. Thats all I know. If I were you I might try isolating the wires a little more. I heard that if you wrap your cables (not bare wires or connections) in tin-foil you can reduce the amount of engine noise in your system.
