Default alpine d300

i have no VIDEO.
anyone here have this unit? i kinda know what is wrong right now. but i have a question.
if you do not park your car, you have no video unless you bypass with a switch, right?
my question to you is that, if you do not park you car, you have no access to your display setup?which means i can only control V.SEL and SEL. is this right?
right now, i have no video and i can not access iPersonal, DVD setup, etc... i can not even change time and brightness.
is this normal?is the car has to be in park to change these setup or is mine defected...just wanna know if you can access iPersonal and DVD setup menu while the car is moving with out bypass switches.
please someone help me.
thanks

I have this unit in my z. the car has to be in park with the emergency brake engaged in order to watch a movie and access ipersonal and dvd setup, etc . you should bypass with a switch. Actually, 2 switches. Alpine made it a little difficult to bypass with a single switch.

You cannot get into any in-depth menus. You have to stop, the the weird a$$ combination with the brakes, and then fix everything. I hate that stupid brake combo. That's why I'm puttin in the bypass switch.

I have an Alpine and it is very easy to do once you've done it. I've had mine for over a year and takes me less than 5 seconds.

First-(without the unit in DVD mode and already car started)Press in and hold foot brake

Second-(still holding down foot brake) Press, and hold in, button on hand break

Third-(while holding in button on hand brake) Engage and disengage hand break 3 times(make brake light come on)

Fourth-After disengaging brake on 3rd time release button and let foot off the foot brake.

If you ar ever pulled over by police pulling the hand break a 4th time anytime after you have done this will put the screen back into a safety mode.

I used a push putton switch and a toggle switch to simulate the foot brake and the emergency brake. that way, the safety feature can be enabled and disable on the fly.
