I suggest to wait for another one of those sales and buy the unit.
which al-eds did you buy from? i'm looking at this one too.

did you consider the kenwood excelon?

Very nice screen, but not worth $2400. For $1250 I'd consider it, but $2400 for any headunit is ridiculous. However, the Kenwood DDX7015 is a very similar unit and only costs $900, unless you get ripped by circuit city or best buy and pay like $2000 for it.

oh damn, that was the same unit i was lookin at when i went to al and eds for their 50% off special. it looks clean in your ride! i didn't have the money at the time so i went with alpine 9835 for 400.00 installed. not a bad deal in my opinion! i'm jealous. lol

ddx7015 on its own is not really a similar unit cause it does come with nav. It's more like $1750 if you add the nav unit then its almost similar. I seriously considered both units but from past experience I rather go with the Eclipse.

Don't get me wrong, I definately prefer Eclipse over Kenwood, I was just commenting that I think the unit is a little pricey. My girlfriend was just looking at these exact two units from my wholesaler, but he can't get his hands on any Eclipse TV's right now, so it kind of singled her out on the Kenwood>> but she got the DDX7015 WITH the Nav unit for $900.

If you can get me a brand new DDX7015 with the DV4100 Nav unit for $900 total, I'd be willing to pay you a resonable "finders fee."

no worries man I totally agree with you that its pricey. If you think about it when it comes to this damn car (aka money pit) i just ask why i spent so much its never a few hundred here or there its more like a couple of grand here and there. i almost bought the ddx and figured i can add the navi later. but when the sale came up i had to jump on it. I dont think the ddx is a bad unit. when i was shopping for the head unit the only two i would consider was the avn & the ddx cause its the closest thing to keep it oem.

Try Ebay, I have seen the Nav combo for 1599.00 (kenwood) for that much. But beware, I placed several bids on the Eclipse AVN and the bids were cancelled for some reason and relisted. Sounded like scams to me. I am going to wait till next year to get the AVN 5495 which has all the above features but also has HDD ( like the AVX unit which is being deleted)

Unless I can get the AVN unit for 1500.00, I will wait. Know any Reputable places for that much?

did you get the back-up camera for this? is that an eclipse option, or do you have to add an aftermarket back-up camera? i'm seriously considering the AVN-2454, and the camera would be nice. i recently drove a lexus with the camera built in, and it was so helpful driving around a tight parking area.
