Youi can make one really quick with MDF, a jigsaw, and a sander.

Exactly! Only problem you may have is they might want you to buy a whole sheet of the stuff. Look in the scrap bins and you may get lucky. Anywayz, I used one spacer made from 5/8" MDF with another spacer made of 1/2" MDF glued together. This made the perfect spacer for my Diamond Audio 600s components. Simply use the original speaker as a template for the MDF

I bought a whole sheet of 3/4" MDF board today and it was like $22. Building a whole box out of the stuff. I think its worth it to spend the $22 instead of a lot more from an audio store.

I went to Lowes some months back looking for 3/4" MDF and I asked one of the workers in the back to cut a piece in half, cuz I didn't want to buy the whole thing. When I got to the front to pay for it, the cashier said they weren't supposed to cut it up like that and he subsequently charged me only $2 for the half-sheet!!
