Nice job. I might have to redo some of my ghetto setup now

There is a place online that does this for corvettes. I forget the name now but if you search you will find it. I inquired some time ago about having them do it for the Z but they wouldnt touch the auto-dimming mirror for some reason. (Is there something special with the coating?). Also, they actually remove the entire insides from the remote display case so you never see the black face at all just the parts that light up.

oh yeah, how did you cut the hole for the RJ11 connector in the back of the mirror ? It looks clean.

I've seen that, it looks very nice.
I had to scrape the reflective backing off the mirror and it was way easier to scrape off a rectangle than to try to scrape out arrows to match the display.
They must have a better way to remove the backing than I did.
I spent a couple hours just getting the backing off the mirror.

The Auto Dimming mirror uses two pieces of glass with the autodimming "cromatic stuff" sandwiched between them.
I don't know why they won't do those types of mirrors.
At night when the mirror dims only the lights of the remote display are visible.
It looks pretty cool!

Thanks,
I cut it with a dremel. I have a very small, very thin circular saw blade... about a 1/2 inch diameter. I hope I never break it because I'm not able to find them anymore.

Thanks. I have one of those but my cuts tend not to come out quite that clean.

They probably have a sticky template cut out for the display. Then they could scratch away or use some chemicals to rub off the exposed parts. It would be awesome if they used a one way mirror tint after rubbing off the original mirror. That way only the lit up parts will show and the rest will look like its part of the mirror.

Very nice...My remote unit has been sitting in the box since I bought it two years ago....might be time to break it out.

Was there a reason for you to pick the right side of the mirror...or was that just your preference?

I'd rather have put it on the left but the right side of the mirror was the only place that had room to install the display.
