Default ddx7015 install tomorrow.

Hey Guys,
Im going to install the ddx7015 along with sirius sattelite radio.
Any tips or tricks to offer before the install?
Ive seen the ground trick where you can view your dvds while driving. Im still not sure i understand that.
Any help on any thing on the install would be greatly appreciated.

The wire that is meant to be attatched to the e-brake...just ground it anywhere. The way the parking brake light works is that when you pull the brake it grounds itself on the body...thus completing the circuit for the light on the dash. This same concept is applied to the HU. When it is grounded it completes the circuit in the HU that allows control of the DVD feature. So anyway....just ground that sucker.

In searching the forums some claimed it would.

It depends on the model...my Alpine IVA-D300 required a bypass module. I was originally looking at a Kenwood 715 and the installer I spoke with said it only required grounding. You just have to search around, ask install shops, or wait for someone here that has that peticular unit to help you out. Sorry I can't be more help.

I had to install a "toggle switch" when I had my Alpine CVA-1005 in my Eclipse. I grounded the wire that connects to the Ebrake. Then ran another wire to the toggle switch. In other words, when you release the e-brake then you flick the toggle switch, the unit thinks the E-brake is pulled up.

I am happy to say I got the install finished.
I had some problems with the air condition
box, Took me forever to get that thing back in but other than that the install went clean.
I just installed the brains under the pass seat and run the wires for it done the center console cluster.
The antena is mounted on the dash in the middle.
I just grounded out the prk wire and it plays while im driving. Time will tell if that last.
All in all id have to say the 7015 rocks and im pleased with the outcome.

Thanks all

You can put brains behind tha passenger seat if you take out the stock sub. Excellent place for them. Very easy to run the wires also.

If you take out the glove box there is A LOT of extra room behind it to mount a brain. Then you just pop the glove box back in and you'll never know where it is.

IIRC, gas tank is under both sides.

Ground it to whatever you want...just look for a screw somewhere on the frame, loosen it a little bit, stick the wire under, and tighten the screw back up.

Will this also work if I have the external nav installed (kenwood dvd nav) on a ddx 8017? Installer said no... He wants me to buy the Eclipse 5435... Said all other units could not be bypassed with nav... Any info on that? Thanks...

The DDX7015 does not have a brain.
