Default speaker swap

I just got an Enthusiast and want to swap out at least the front speakers with something better. Reading thru some threads, it looks like the factory HU is an acceptable piece.

Any reccomends for new speakers that just bolt right in, I don't want to add any amps or anything - would prefer to avoid the issue of spacers if possible.

For both the front and possibly the rear.
Thanks

you can't do anything with the fronts without spacers. replacing those is a bit more involved than simple drop-in's also because you have a seperate woofer and tweeter. both require custom mounting to replace. rear's, just drop in whatever you want. i like my alpine's just fine. problem is, with the way the face (right at the back of your head), you won't get a lot of sound quality by upgrading them much. personally, i didn't spend a lot of money there. good luck!

I know a person that put 5.25 comonents in. Didn't need spacers, just a ring so that he could mount the speaker. same thing, just offering different ideas.

also, not sure if just adding components will upgarde the sound quality any. pretty much any compoent set that would reqires power more than the HU puts out.

Replaced stock speakers with Infinity Kappa 62.5i 6.5" components (all 4), they are efficient and sound good but you'll need to use the spacers from the old speakers. Also using Infinity 10.2T 1" tweeters in place of stock, still using stock head unit.

If you want some bass you'll need a subwoofer, I added Infinity BaseLink, system sounds great compared to stock.

So if I go with the Infinity speakers, is the stock HU strong enough to power them or do I need to add an amp?

Thanks for the help

I get plenty of volume and clear sound using the stock head unit but I don't listen super loud and the BaseLink really helps fill out the sound. If you like it really loud add an amp now, otherwise just swap the speakers and if you find the stock HU isn't powerful enough add an amp later.

I didn't want to mess with an amp which is one reason why I chose these speakers, they don't need as much power as some others to produce good sound.
