Yup, a lot of us tracking the new iMac mini have already become aware of this, same with the rest of the iPod userbase at my350z.com. I still believe there are much better alternatives out their than using the factory headunit just to control your iPod. Take a look at Alpine's iPod interface and also at aftermarket headunits that have auxilary inputs. Monster Cables manufactures the "iCable" which allows you connect the 1/8" stereo connector of the headphone jack of the iPod or Belkin auto adapter to the red/white RCA jacks of an aux input.

Yep, i'm using the alpine/ipod interface daily and it's great. I'll never burn another cd for in Z tunes again!

I added that to my Z and believe me that when I switch to my ipod that the sound qaulity is superb. I am using the monster cable and I can not believe how good the sound quality is. It is a must have, and you will never need a cd vhanger ever again.

I love the Alpine-Ipod connection, but man i wish the search feature was faster, when you have a lot of different artists to scroll through, it is painfully slow

I am very familiar with macs. I have a 17" powerbook and I know how to create a playlist, so thank you anyway for your support.
