Default Remote Start.

I'm really close to buying a remote starting system for my Z this week. I know what the "Pro's" are (in my case), but are there any "Con's" I should look out for after installing a system like this? I have never owned a remote starting system before.

is your car an automatic? if you put a remote start on a manual and you hit the button while the car is still in gear it's going to learch forward.

With the Z there are A LOT of things that need to be bypassed and stuff... I was going to have one put in while I was having my stereo installed but it would have cost almost $700 after all the parts they would have to buy. Of course this was a pretty top of the line system but...

Circuit City claims an installed price of something like 400 bux but what they don't tell you is that most cars now require more parts which you not only have to buy...they charge you instillation for each individual part.

Bottom Line--remote start is very kool but may not be worth it.

you have to get modules that control different things. such as you'll need a module because the key is chipped.

all you'd need for a clifford matrix alarm is a 50 dollar bypass module to get RS on a 6 speed.

my rs3 alarm with backup battery, prox sensor, remote start was 400 bucks installed @ best buy. this was aug 2003

With all of the nessicary relays and parts you need, it comes out to be just around $400 at Circuit City. We did an auto Z a few weeks ago and we were lucky enough to have the relays in stock

I have a Viper 670XV 2-way pager alarm already on my 6-speed '04 Z...I too was going to get a remote start but the installer quoted me $189 (good/bad?) but I didn't have the extra chipped key with me so I had to find it and come back. Does anyone know if the valet key can be used (the plastic one without the silver Nissan, (just black) logo??...peace all

I'm getting it installed this Wednesday. They will be using my valet key and it will be mounted in some sort of a box under the dash. So the answer is yes, as long as your valet key has a chip like your regular key (am I'm sure it does).
