Default Need Stereo Advice

I have a 2005 roadster and I have replaced the factory bose unit with a Sony DVX-11A Receiver and Sony 7" in dash DVD motorized TFT monitor.( Xplode). I noticed that after I changed the the factory bose unit to the Sony unit that my sound was better with the Bose. I am not running any amps and I am using factory bose speakers, so I did not expect to get alot more sound but nor did I expect to lose sound qaulity either. What I want to do is just have a little more bass and highs. I want to just add speakers to my existing cavity within the car and an amp in one of the compartments behind the seat. If anyone can tell what exactly I need to do let me know or have any other suggestions.

I would guess the remaining Bose components to be the culprit. Altough everyone says they are low quality; they are tuned to work as a complete system. How did you bypass the Bose amp and wiring? How are you sending the proper crossover freq to the sub? My opinion would be 1 set new components, new sub, one or two amps, new wiring for amp and speakers.

If you're gonna replace anything...replace it ALL! That's all I have to say. :-)

if you can't replace everything at once, do it over time. although not everyone is in the same financial situation.

it all depends on how much you want to spend. you can check out the basslink. many people have have been satisifed with it. it's a 10" that's already powered, kinda like a bazooka. they run around $200 if i'm not mistaken.

I appreciate everyone's advice and as far as how they bi passed the factory wiring for the sony equipment I do not know. I had a shop do it. I really don't need my stereo to be very loud I just want good clean sound that has some thump. What I have now is a nice sony deck and really bad sound quality from the Bose speakers. Thank you for your help everyone.

do a search for basslink. it's made by infinity. that should give you what you're looking for. you can also pm dave079 or nazar. both of them build sub enclosures that fit under the strut. if you're feeling a little creative, a few have built their own fiberglass enclosures that fit behind the driver seat that will fit a 10" sub.
