wiring question
I am planning on installing a set of MB quart RCE 216's in my doors this weekend. I am going to power them with a phoenix gold x100.2. The questions I have are as follows:
1). Can I connect my output speaker wires from the amp to the original stock wiring in the doors or do I need to re-wire? I know you can re-wire by cutting the harness, but is it necessary?
2). Has anyone installed these speakers in the doors and what kind of spacer did you use?
3). Will the crossovers fit in the doors?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1.) you can do this as a short-term solution if you don't have time this weekend. Just make sure you have the right wiring diagram. however, with 100W per Chn you need to be using at least 16 g wire to the crossover, 16 g or better to the 6.5, and 18 g or so to the tweeter. You don't need to cut the harness, you have to drill it out with a dremel to allow the two new wires to pass through easily.
2) I believe you will need to either use the stock speaker as a spacer or make one from MDF using stock speaker as a template. I have heard a few speakers don't need a spacer but most do. You want to keep the magnet away from the lowered window so it doesn't hit and so rain doesn't drip directly on it.
3) Yes, probably best behind the arm rest on the door. But may be better to put it where your amps are so you can easily adjust later.

dannichols,
I appreciate the help. I didn't really want to re-wire the doors, but it looks like I might have to.
Has anyone out there used the stock spacer with MB quart speakers? This seams like the easiest route. I think the mounting depth on them is 2 1/2 inches.
Thanks
