There's 2 mfgrs that make an ipod interface for their hu. It's Alpine and Clarion. I'm a Clarion fan, not so much Alpine. Most people here have the Alpine and love it. You just hook a cable from the ipod to the hu. The controls on the hu control the ipod. Pretty cool. You can remove the ipod when needed. Just plug it back in when you hop in the car.

If you'd like to still use your iPod to control songs/playlists, then all you need is a headunit that has an auxilary input (RCA: white/red jacks). See pictures in my signature for my setup.

I have a Clarion head unit that has Aux inputs, so I plugged one end of Belkin Y Audio cable into the Aux inputs, the other end into the audio out from a Belkin Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector which I wired into power. I stuffed all of this under the console with just the Belkin's Dock Connector hanging out.

Obviously, the headunit doesn't show song/artist info or direclty control the iPod, but it's still just one connection into the bottom of the iPod to play music and charge the iPod. And the sound is significantly cleaner than using an FM modulator.

Don't forget that pioneer is coming out with a blackbox that connects the HU with the ipod. In the description they say something about full playlist etc. features.

I have the 6500 hu so I will stay with my setup and wait until this pioneer thing is ready for sell.
