Default Help PG amp is cutting off at higher volumes

Does anyone know whats the cause of an amp cutting off at higher volumes? If I put the volume on the radio to around 40(2/3) it plays fine for a couple minutes and then it cuts off if I lower the volume a bit it comes back on. I have a PG Ti600.2(poweing DA Hex components) and a PG zx475ti(powering DA 6x9's and a JL w3v2), The zx475ti is the one thats cutting off on me, what can be causing this? the gains are about half way on the zx475ti on both channels

I am not familular with those products, but if the load impedance is too low, at high volumes, you will exceed the current capacity of the amp, and it may go into over current protection. There should be some indicator on the amp when this hapens, so look for an LED that indicates this. If this isn't the cause, perhaps your battery voltage drops too low, casuing the amp to shut down due to under voltage protection. This may be apparent by your headlights dimming and the volt meter on your dash to drop. I'd check those things first.

touch the ground wire while the system is playing. If this wire gets hot, or the screw which its connected to, then you have a bad ground. I suppose that increased current thru a bad ground connection could cause this problem, but I have never seen something like this happen.

There mounted in the spare tire well, If you think its overheating I doubt it cause I dont have the mat in the trunk covering the amps yet, so there getting plenty of air.

Im running a 4 gauge in to the distrib. block and I used 4 gauge coming out of the distrib block

also another thing happening, I'm not sure how to describe this but I noticed when I adjust the gain on either channel while playing music the speakers crackle(staticy sound) a little.

Im hoping it just a bad ground cause I have both amps being grounded off a small screw, I'm gonna see what happens when I install these grounding terminals. Im crossing my fingers I hope thats the problem.

a "crackle" when you adjust the gains indicates a CHEAP pot (potentiometer). You should get that part replaced, could be a faulty component causing your amp to fail.

one way to tell if the amps are "starving for power" is to measure the voltage at boht the battery terminal and the amp connector. If the battery voltage drops at the battery, your electrical system needs some upgrades, if it is OK there but drops at the connector, you need to upgrde that 4 AWG wire.

and dont forget about the PG forum there are guys over there who will get entirely too excited over trouble shooting a system with Ti amps.

I was planning to give PG tech support tomorrow If the problem is still happening after I install the grounding terminal.

Im actually gonna bring my car to someone today to measure the voltage. I really hope I dont have to upgrade to the 2 gauge power wire but I guess im better off if that is problem rather needing the amp repaired or replaced

I just dont understand it I hate troubleshooting, it was playing fine this morning when I bumping it I guess because I lowered the gains to less than half way last night but if I go above the half way on the gain it starts happening again.

another question for you guys on the radio setting what would be my best bet with setting the LOUD to? I have an option to have it OFF-LOW-MED-HIGH, med sound to low but high sounds to harsh

My next problem after getting this problem with the amp resolved is getting the car tuned properly cause I have no F*ckin clue on what I should be adjusting the settings to.

I know alot of shops are not gonna want to mess with it since they didnt do the install
