i just bought this cable to hook up my ipod to alpine cda-7893. i bought this unit some time ago...may be 3 years? any ways...i checked the box of the hu before hooking up the ipod and it said 3 pre amp outputs. so i went to hook up the ipod and it dosen't work. actually i can't find an output cables. it only says rear and front with red and white. so i hooked it up to one of those and it obviously isn't an aux output. do i need a new hu to hook up my ipod? thought outputs and aux meant the same thing. am i wrong?

 

you need auxilary inputs... i believe for those alpines you need a contector that hooks up through the cd changer

thus making the cd changer input a auxilary input
